Generate designs with Pixso AI
Describe the page you need in Pixso AI to generate an editable design. Include the page content, layout, and visual direction, then continue editing the result on the canvas. This is useful for exploring a new interface or building a starting point for a page.
Open design mode
- Open a Pixso design file.
- Select AI at the top of the left sidebar to open the AI conversation.
- Switch the conversation to design mode.
- Describe the design you want to create, then send your request.
For example: “Create a desktop project dashboard with a left navigation sidebar, a project summary, three progress cards, and a task table. Use a light background, blue accents, and clear headings.” Specify the parts that matter to your project instead of relying on a general request such as “make a dashboard.”
Choose a model
Before sending your request, use the model selector in the AI panel to choose from the available models.
Choose a design system
A design system gives AI a set of visual conventions to follow, including colors, typography, components, and layout patterns. Choose the approach that fits your task:
- Intelligent: let AI select a visual direction based on your description and use case. This is useful when you are exploring ideas.
- General: choose a built-in design system to give the result a consistent starting point.
- Custom: use your team's published component library and its design conventions.
To use a custom library, first enable AI access for that library. See Using custom design systems with AI for the available entry points and required access.
Match the request to the selected library. For example, a dashboard component library is a useful starting point for a reporting page. A request for an unrelated visual style may not make good use of its components.
Use a skill
A skill is a reusable set of instructions for a particular type of design task. It can contain design rules, a workflow, and relevant domain knowledge. Select a skill that matches the work you want AI to do, such as organizing a page layout or refining its content and visual style.
Your prompt still needs to explain the result you want. A skill provides an approach; it does not replace the page requirements.
Add a reference image
Upload a reference image when the desired layout or style is easier to show than to describe. AI can use the image's arrangement, colors, typography, and visual treatment to inform the generated design.
- Choose a clear reference image that relates to the page you are making.
- Add it to the AI request.
- State which parts to use as a reference, such as the card layout, color palette, or spacing.
- Describe the content and functionality of your own page, then submit the request.
For example: “Use this image as a reference for the sidebar and card spacing. Keep the project dashboard content from my prompt; do not copy the reference's text or icons.”
A reference image guides the design; it is not an exact reproduction request. Small text, icons, and complex details can differ. Large images may be compressed, so use a clear image focused on the relevant area.
Refine the result
Review the generated page's content, hierarchy, and layout. Select the part you want to change and describe a focused adjustment. For a complex page, work through one area at a time so you can assess each change before continuing.
If a request fails or the conversation is interrupted, keep the session ID and the details of what happened when contacting Pixso support.
