Enable browser graphics acceleration

Pixso uses WebGL for graphics rendering. Chrome graphics acceleration can improve canvas rendering when the browser and device support it. File complexity, available memory and the network can also affect responsiveness.

Enable graphics acceleration in Chrome

  1. Enter chrome://settings/system in the browser address bar.
  2. Turn on Use graphics acceleration when available. Some versions label this setting hardware acceleration.
  3. Confirm that work in open tabs has saved, then relaunch Chrome when prompted.

Check whether acceleration is active

Enter chrome://gpu in the address bar. Under Graphics Feature Status, inspect Canvas and WebGL. Hardware accelerated indicates GPU acceleration; Software only, unavailable or disabled indicates that it is not active for that feature.

If the canvas is still slow or displays incorrectly

  1. Update Chrome, restart it and check the graphics status again.
  2. Update the graphics driver through the device or GPU manufacturer. On a managed computer, ask IT to check device policies.
  3. Close unnecessary resource-intensive tabs and compare with a smaller Pixso file.
  4. If enabling acceleration causes flicker or crashes, restore the previous setting and report the result.

Experimental browser settings

Do not force compatibility overrides to enable Pixso. If you previously changed Override software rendering list in chrome://flags and encounter rendering problems, restore it to Default, relaunch and check the GPU status.

For further help, provide your system, Chrome version, GPU model, graphics status and affected file link through Pixso support.
