Export files and design assets

1. Export Layer

1.1 Choose Layer

Choose the object and layer you want to export, which can be a single layer or a single object, a group of objects or all content on the canvas.

You can also use the Slice Tool to export the partial canvas.

1.2 Add Export Settings

Export settings control the way Pixso exports the resource, including the proportion and format settings.

You can view, add or delete export settings on the Export section of the right panel.

If you have added export settings, you can also use shortcut keys to export the selected content.

1.2 Add Export Settings in Pixso

Shortcut Keys:

  • MacOS:Shift + Command + E
  • Windows:Shift + Ctrl + E

1.3 Supported Format

Export as PNG

PNG is a lossless bitmap format in which image quality does not deteriorate with resource compression.

Export as JPG

JPG is a pixel-based image format. Unlike PNG, each JPG has a fixed size. Exporting files as JPG is a lossy compression. This can lead to smaller file sizes and lower image quality.

Export as SVG

SVG is an XML-based vector graphics. It is a shape of values and coordinates that can be rendered on any screen. Pixso only supports exporting SVG of 1x.

Some features of Pixso can't be displayed normally in SVG files.

  • Angle or diamond gradient. Pixso exports these as the radial gradient.
  • The background blur won't be exported to SVG.
  • Pixso exports the text as a shape by default. Once exported to SVG, you cannot edit the text layer.

2. Export Pixso File

You can export the whole design as a Pixso file.

Besides the Pixso file, you can also export Sketch, XD and PDF files.

The exported file contains no comment, version history or permission of the original file. And you can only open files in .pix format with Pixso.

2. Export Pixso File in Pixso

3. Export PDF File

Pixso supports exporting PDF files in multiple dimensions. You can export certain content based on needs.

1. Export range: You can export the current frame, the current page or the whole file.

2. Export settings: You can choose an export dimension

  • In terms of frame, 1 frame corresponds to 1 PDF page.
  • In terms of file page, 1 file page corresponds to 1 PDF page.

3. Export order: If you export in terms of frame, Pixso allows you to customize the order of exported frames.

  • By frame name order, Pixso will take the alphabetical order of frames.
  • By frame distribution order, Pixso will take the location order from left to right and from top to bottom.
  • By layer frame order, Pixso will take the same order as the left layer panel. Note: Only the frame can be exported as PDF. You can regard the frame as a container of all designs. Thus, please make sure that all the content you want to export is in the frame. If not, you can select all objects and press Command + Option + G to create a frame for them.

Tips for Exporting PDF

You may encounter various problems during export. Here are several tips that may help you out:

  • Verify browser memory and device hardware parameters to ensure they have enough space to run the export. You can close complex tabs to free browser memory.
  • Export large or complex files in batches. For instance, you can select less frames to export, or paste the content you need to a new file before exporting.
  • Troubleshoot abnormal frames and turn them into non-vector images. If you don’t require the vector layer, then you can choose to turn abnormal frames into PNG images and paste them into the file for export. Generally speaking, frames stuck in processing status can be regarded as abnormal frames.
  • If your issue can not be solved with the methods above, please contact us by joining the support group or filling out the form. Our support team will reply to you as soon as possible.

Check the exported result

  1. Select the intended frame, layer or slice rather than an unrelated parent group.
  2. Choose a supported export format and scale for the delivery requirement.
  3. Open the exported file and check its dimensions, crop, text and transparency.
  4. For multiple assets, use clear layer names and verify the full exported set.

Raster export scale changes pixel dimensions. A slice defines an export region, so check the slice bounds if part of the design is missing. For a very large PDF or image, reduce the export scope to the relevant pages or frames and retry; retain the original design file.
