You and your team members can use Pixso Whiteboard's mind maps in scenarios including but not limited to:

  • Write a specific plan and milestones using a timeline
  • Create an interesting organizational chart
  • Collect creative ideas from real-time brainstorming
  • Quickly memorize important information
  • Assign tasks to team members in a timely manner
  • Project management
  • Course scheduling
  • To-do lists, and more

How to Create a Mind Map

To start using mind maps, find the Mind map icon in the toolbar. For convenience, you can drag the icon to any location on the toolbar. Then click anywhere on the canvas to add a parent node - the starting point of the mind map. Symbols on either side of it will indicate where you can start creating child nodes (branches). You can create vertical or horizontal mind maps.

Once the mind map is created, you can copy text content and paste it onto the mind map, and it will automatically generate corresponding child topics.

Mind Map Shortcuts

For faster use of mind maps, you can use the same shortcut keys as other mind mapping tools:

  • Enter text: Once the mind map is created, it enters edit mode, and you can directly enter text.
  • Insert the main topic: Enter
  • Insert a main topic before the current node: Shift+Enter
  • Insert a subtopic: Tab/Enter
  • Delete the currently selected topic: Delete/Backspace
  • Warp lines: Shift+Enter
  • Exit edit mode: Esc
  • Indent text: Shift+Tab
  • In addition to the above shortcuts, Pixso Whiteboard also provides many features in right-click menu to help you easily use mind maps while in mouse mode.

Rich Mind Map Styles

Pixso Whiteboard offers 9 different mind map styles and 3 different theme layouts. You can create various content with the three types of layout: top-down layout, timeline layout, and left-right layout. All nodes will align automatically, but you can select and drag nodes to change their position on the canvas.

As each primary component of a mind map is text, you can apply different text styles to any node in the mind map. Please note that changing the font size in the parent node will affect the entire mind map in order to maintain visual consistency. The specific functions included are: adjusting font, adjusting font size, changing text style (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, text color, text background color), inserting images, and inserting hyperlinks (to jump to corresponding links).

Add Outline

Currently, mind maps support selecting a node and starting to add an outline. You can add an outline using the following methods:

  1. Select a mind map node, click the Add outline button on the toolbar, and then drag the control point to start.
  2. Select multiple child nodes (under the same parent node) with the mouse, and then click the Add outline button in the toolbar to start.

Make Elements Follow the Mind Map

If you want the elements on the canvas to follow the mind map, you can use connection lines to connect them. After connecting, when the mind map adds a branch or moves its position, the connected elements will also move along with it.
